Een handgemaakt keramieken bord is uniek door het ambachtelijke proces dat eraan voorafgaat. Het begint met het vormen van klei, vaak met de hand of op een draaischijf. Vervolgens wordt het bord gebakken in een oven, wat zorgt voor hardheid en duurzaamheid. Na het bakken kan het bord worden geglazuurd, wat het niet alleen esthetisch aantrekkelijk maakt, maar ook zorgt voor een waterdichte afwerking. Elk bord heeft een eigen karakter door de onregelmatigheden in vorm, kleur en textuur die ontstaan tijdens het handwerk, waardoor het een kunstobject op zich is.
